To continue the legacy of St. Damien and St. Marianne and provide a place for displays, exhibits and inter-active opportunities, St. Augustine Church has taken a major step in making this historical time available for today’s audience, the building of the Damien and Marianne of Moloka’i Education Center.
It is a response to the thousands of people who have come to Hawaii seeking information about St. Damien and St. Marianne. The interest is world-wide and continues to grow as more people are introduced to the story of a place called “Kalaupapa”.
The Education Center features a controlled temperature environment for the preservation of displays and the comfort of visitors, two floors of informative historic interest, static as well as inter-active displays, a chapel to reflect, and an adjacent Memorial Garden for meditation and remembrance. It will also have a retail outlet for local products created in Hawaii.
Located on Kalakaua Avenue and the famed Waikiki Beach, it is readily accessible and recognizable by its design and location. Please come and visit.
