Through their consent the spouses mutually give and accept each other through an irrevocable and perpetual covenant in order to establish marriage (Canon 1057.2 of the Code of Canon Law and the Catechism, No. 1638).
Celebrating your wedding anniversary?
We offer an anniverary blessing for couples whose marriage is validly recognized by the Catholic Church.
We do not offer "renewal of vows" ceremonies.
The Catholic Church has not proposed any ritual for the renewal of marriage vows either within or outside of Mass.
It is true that Catholics annually renew their baptismal promises, priests their ordination commitments and many religious their vows. But these promises are complementary to the sacrament and do not constitute the sacramental form itself. Nobody is ever baptized or ordained anew for devotional purposes.
If a marriage is valid, it can’t be made more valid. If were married civilly, please contact your parish priest to discuss marriage validation.
Advance arranements must be made. We do not permit walk-in requests for anniversary blessings.
In order to verify that the marriage is validly recognized by the Catholic Church, we require a copy of your marriage certificate that was issued by the Catholic Church.
We do not accept copies of civil marriage licenses or documents issued by any government entity or department.
Once the marriage certificate has been received and verified, we will confirm the anniverary blessing at a regular scheduled mass of your choosing. We do not offer blessings outside of our regular mass schedule.
